- The ring martingale is a rein made of 2 straps: one strap is fixed on one side to the girth and on the other side it separates into 2 parts with rings that will slide in the reins.
The second strap is a collar that will go around the neck, to keep the reins in place. It is important to avoid too much adjustment court which may interfere with the horse's neck movements.
The purpose of the ring martingale is not to lower the horse's head, but to prevent him from head-butting.
