The mastitis detector allows for the detection of changes in the milk before acute inflammation of the udder (mastitis) occurs.

The mastitis detector measures the resistance of the milk from each quarter of the udder. Research has shown that the onset of mastitis is accompanied by a significant increase in the salt content of the milk.

The salt content or electrical resistance can therefore serve as an indicator of mastitis.

The device detects changes in the milk well before other clinical signs and symptoms are observed in the animal, allowing for a reliable diagnosis of subclinical mastitis.
