The needle bit adopts a stable and very gentle position in the mouth. It ensures safe lateral support, with no risk of pinching the skin or lips from the angled stop. This bit is preferably used by riders who practice show jumping to be able to make tight turns. When pulled more strongly, the second pair of reins attached to the lifting bit causes the bit to lower and rise in the mouth: the effect is thus amplified.
