What are heating strips and why do you need them?

The heating mats from Reptile Systems are already established throughout Europe and the UK and have proven to be unmatched in terms of reliability, safety, and performance. These heating mats are available in the most common sizes and are part of the high-end market. To complement the heating mats, we complete the range with heating strips, which are 15 cm wide instead of 28 cm, giving us a range suitable for almost all heating needs.

How are Reptile Systems heating strips different?

The Reptile Systems heating strips are made from a polymer sheet that is then screen printed with an exclusive conductive ink, giving our heating mats their ultra-flat profile. The features are the same as those of the mat, with the heating compound distribution allowing for a gradual decrease in temperature towards the edges of the heating strips, which reduces the risk of glass cracking due to thermal shock. High thermal responsiveness combined with uniform heat distribution across the rest of the surface is guaranteed. The properties of the thermistor are also integrated into each mat as an additional safety element.

Application

The strips are ideal for heating reptiles, amphibians, insects, birds, and small animals in the same way as the mats, but for those that do not require such a wide heat source. They have the same adhesive backing, allowing for trouble-free installation on the side or back of a glass terrarium. They can also be used for heating under the terrarium, provided the substrate is not too thick. Use the supplied feet to ensure good air circulation.

Typically, they are used to heat smaller multi-chambers, such as hatchery supports and shelving systems. They offer the same type of application as heating cables but without the bulkiness thanks to their slim profile, making it easier to use and set up the enclosure.
